Grace is originally from Santa Barbara! She is currently training to become a mental health coach for the UCLA Grand Depression Challenge as well as volunteering at the Kasari Autism Lab at UCLA Semel Institute. Grace loves to dance (specifically ballet and modern) and has been doing it since she was 3 years old! In her free time she enjoys doing any outdoor activities like going on hikes, picnicking, and surfing. She also loves cooking, traveling, creative writing, and listening to all kinds of music. She is interested in pursuing a career in Speech Language Pathology, with a focus on working with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Recently she worked as a one-on-one behavioral interventionist with kids on the spectrum through Innovative Behavioral Therapies, using ABA (applied behavior analysis). Grace believes tutoring—structured in a highly individualized, flexible, interactive, and engaging way—to be one of the most important aspects of a student’s academic and personal development. As a tutor, she loves the opportunity to not only offer her support in academic endeavors, but also to encourage self-motivation, problem-solving, thinking outside the box, and building effective communication so that students feel confident in a range of their abilities. Grace sees tutoring as a fantastic way to inspire and foster an excitement for learning, where students can make the most of their engagement with material in meaningful ways.
