ASHLEY L.

Ashley was born and raised in Los Angeles! She is very involved on campus as a member of a sorority, Camp Kesem Counselor, a writer for the Daily Bruin: Arts and Entertainment Beat, an intern with CALPIRG (the on campus student advocacy group, and an intern with Academic Affairs Commission with USAC. In her free time Ashley loves exploring new places and traveling, sports, baking, watching movies, reading, going to the beach, having dance parties, and spending quality time with family and friends. Ashley is a long time camp counselor, with work ranging from teaching at Wilshire Boulevard Jewish Temple to working for America Scores, an organization which partners with urban schools to provide a no-cost, high-quality, team-based after school program that integrates soccer, poetry, and service-learning. She also worked with Wise Readers to Leaders where she worked with first graders teaching them to read. Ashley loves tutoring because she finds it so important to be her students’ biggest cheerleader. She finds it a privilege to watch a child’s dedication to their schoolwork and to play a crucial role in instilling confidence in them for the future. Most of all she cherished the bonds formed with the children, that extends past the homework itself.
