Ignite Impact

Ignite Impact is the philanthropic branch of Ignite Tutoring, offering free tutoring to K-12 students from under-resourced communities. Our goal is to level the academic playing field and diversify higher education by providing quality tutoring and mentoring services to students of all backgrounds.

We are currently partnered with Alliance Gertz-Ressler High School, where we provide free virtual tutoring to eligible students in a variety of subjects. Additionally, we offer free tutoring on an individualized basis based on qualified applications. Applicants are required to include pay stub, bank statement, tax return, or other documents in order to verify low-income status.

Our Team

Ryan Juncker

Ryan is the co-founder and director of Ignite Impact, he graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors from UCLA in 2021. His other professional endeavors include performing research UCLA Departments of Orthopedic Surgery and Microbiology and working in the Emergency Department at Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital. In his free time, Ryan enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, watching sports, snowboarding, and going to the beach.

Tahlia Mullins

Tahlia is a Philanthropy Intern for Ignite Impact as well as a tutor for Ignite Tutoring. She is a third year Neuroscience major at UCLA pursuing both College and Departmental Honors. Her other professional endeavors include working as a Behavior Interventionist with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder for Easterseals Southern California. In addition, she conducts research for ESSC on clinical intervention techniques for individuals with Autism. In her free time, Tahlia enjoys being outdoors, playing chess, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

Karina Seth

Karina is an undergraduate at UCLA majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Spanish. On campus, she writes for the Daily Bruin and volunteers at Ronald Reagan Hospital. She also does bio-behavioral research at the Semel Institute. In her free time, Karina enjoys doing yoga, watching basketball games, and going to the beach. She is part of Ignite Impact because she wants to become involved in her community and give back.

Kay Ovcharenko

Chief Strategy Officer. Kay Ovcharenko is a recent UCLA grad (Class of 2020!) and is one of the founders of Ignite. She's been a tutor with various tutoring companies and has privately tutored children from underserved areas in Los Angeles as well as children with autism. She decided to create a tutoring company after seeing a lack of concern for quality in the tutoring system, and wanted to address this problem. Because she herself experienced a lack of educational support growing up and understands how debilitating this can be, she hopes that through Ignite Impact she can give the opportunity to have excellent academic support and mentorship to underserved students as she believes that many students can be remarkably successful given just a little bit of outside of help. She hopes that students in Ignite Impact not only succeed in school but get excited to learn and grow a curiosity for life.
