Frequently Asked Questions

Do you provide in-person tutoring, virtual tutoring, or both? 


We provide both in-person tutoring and virtual tutoring! Send us a message about what you’re looking for, and we’ll respond as soon as we can.


Where are you located? 


As all our tutors are either UCLA or UC Berkeley students, for in-person sessions we primarily serve West LA and Berkeley and their surrounding areas.


Can tutors come to my home?


Yes! Tutors can come to your home. If you prefer, the tutor can also meet your student at a quiet cafe or a local public library. 


What is the hiring process like for tutors? 


Tutors are selected using a number of criteria assessed via a rigorous interview process. The first criteria is that a candidate must be an undergraduate student currently enrolled at UCLA or UC Berkeley. After that we look for academic excellence, good explanatory capabilities and good people skills. 


How do you select which tutor is best for my student? 


After having a free consultation via phone call with the parent, we assess first and foremost which tutors we have that will best fit the learning objectives. After selecting a number of capable tutors, we make our recommendations based on which tutor we believe will get along best with your student. We take into account personality, hobbies, interests, and a number of other aspects we believe will help your student succeed! 


What is the pricing for your services? 


Tutoring rate depends on the level of academic material and tutoring medium. Individual tutoring rates start at $35/hr. Please contact us to acquire more information about our rates and services!


What is your cancellation policy? 


We offer a flexible cancellation policy. So long as the session is cancelled by 9 am the day of, the client will not be charged. Cancellations after 9 am and up until an hour before the session will result in a 50% charge of the rate for one tutoring hour. Cancellations within an hour before the session will result in a 100% charge of the hourly rate for a session. In face of emergency, these policies will be waived. 


Do you offer discounts? If so, how do I get one? 


We do not generally offer discounts. 

We do occasionally have promotions or offer single session discounts, but clients will be alerted to these via email. Otherwise rates are always the same for all clients.
